LP Giobbi, the DJ, producer, jazz-trained pianist, and activist, has spent the last several years almost entirely on tour, traversing the globe from festival main stages and packed clubs to boardrooms and studios. Known for her powerful remixes, including takes on Grateful Dead and Taylor Swift tracks, and for her innate sense of melody and rhythm, Giobbi is releasing her new album, Dotr, on October 18th. This follows her critically acclaimed 2023 debut, Light Places, which earned her DJ Mag's Producer of the Year award and a spot on NPR's Favorite New Musicians of 2023 list.
Dotr is an attempt to create a sense of home while constantly on the move. It captures the warmth and comfort found in familiar surroundings, built from intimate recordings of friends and mentors interwoven with soaring, ethereal melodies. The album's title, a childhood abbreviation of her signature on notes to her parents, hints at the personal nature of the music. Dotr explores a range of emotions, from love and reconciliation to grief, anxiety, and the exhilaration of taking risks. It reflects the whirlwind of Giobbi's life and the incredible trajectory of her career, capturing the highs and lows of one of electronic music's most exciting artists.
With over 340 million streams, Giobbi has performed at major festivals like Coachella, Tomorrowland, Electric Forest, and Lollapalooza, and toured with artists such as John Summit, Diplo, Dead & Co, Black Coffee, and Sofi Tukker. Beyond her music, she serves as the global music director for W Hotels, founded Femme House, a non-profit advocating for gender equity in electronic music, and leads Yes Yes Yes, her genre-bending record label (a Defected Records imprint).
